Today marks 7 more sleeps until we head west to get Carman on the list and 6 more sleeps will see Heather flying back home to NB with her new lungs! No small irony as we pass along provincial boundaries!
Carman is working his way thru the “Transplant” binder that Cathy gave us and discovering that his contact sports days are over...no more football, hockey, etc.; neither of which he has played in a great many years, but sure enjoyed them while he did. There are also some dietary limitations he is concerned about, especially those that directly impact his sweet tooth! This will be a big (and sad) change for him, as he’s been allowed to have dessert more frequently lately, while we try to get a few more pounds on him. We’ll just have to find another way to ensure he stays sweet post-surgery!
I attended my last class with Carole today (until we return), and then was treated to lunch with her and my classmates friends - April, Carol, Colleen, Helen, Janice, Julia, Kathleen, Leslie, Rhea, Sue, and Sue #1. We all enjoy our Wednesday mornings, not just for Carole’s instruction and guidance with our drawing and painting, but for the chats, laughs, shared travel stories and therapy we experience as well!
Today we also heard from our friends Dennis, currently in China, and Lyn & John in south Australia. Our friend Cameron called 2 weeks ago from BC and then there’s the texts from Pam, who lives in Iqualuit and email from our niece, Rosemary in Botswana. At this point, we think they hold respective titles for our compass point supporters - so good to know we’re surrounded by such amazing and, as it turns out, worldwide support!
Thanks for all the update info. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to even think of what you need to do let alone getting it all done. You are very blessed with such a large number of friends and associates to help you out. Can you rent one of those 80 inch tv's for your apartment in TO? The gov't health insurance should cover that I'd think. Continued good luck with your packing. Alex.
