10 Days Post-Transplant

24Feb - Sunday
Danica (most extraordinary caregiver), arrived early today to be here at breakfast time and then stayed with you until 4pm. She recalled having done the evening shift one day last week, came home at 11:30 and we received a text from you at 8am asking “where are you guys?”

We decided an intervention was necessary, our Carman was quickly turning into a hospital diva!

I arrived back from Kingston, dropped my stuff at the condo and reached TGH around 2:30. Danica and I headed to the lounge as Carman was napping. Our roommate’s wife, Cindy came to get us when he woke. We got him set up for a walk, and the three of us walked to the east wing, then down the elevator to the Elizabeth St. foyer to see Danica off home. We then returned to our floor and finished the walk.

We spent part of the evening in the conference room and while there Carman made phone calls to his sister, brother and my folks back in NB. They were all so excited to hear his voice sounding so strong on the phone.

Back in the room it was meds time once again. They’ve been checking Carman’s blood sugar twice daily as he is on high dose of Prednisone. His sugar tends to build thru the day, and although this is common at this stage of recovery, they keep a close eye on it.
