| Enjoying the Via rails |
I boarded the Via train for Kingston this morning and was met by Matt, when he arrived from Ottawa. For Christmas, Danica gave us both tickets for admittance to the first annual Kingston Whisky Festival along with passes to two of the Master classes being offered - Whisky Cocktails (with Canadian Club & Jim Beam products) & The Cooper and the Woods (making the barrels with a local Cooper - Canada has only 2 coopers).

The event was held at the Military Communications Museum and booths were arranged throughout the building. As an inaugural event it was incredibly well done, sold out and raised $5000 for the museum. Sylvain Bouffard will have a real challenge to make it even better next year. Read more at Whisky Festival

Meanwhile back in Hogtown - the ladies are treating Carman to a bit of a Rib Festival. He has been craving ribs since his surgery so Danica, Jennifer, and our friends Krista & Shilpa are having dinner with him, complete with ribs (or should I say mostly ribs and a few sides) from Baton Rouge Restaurant. Yes, Carman gets to have dinner with 4 lovely ladies...the nurses just roll their eyes, they have already commented on the beautiful women who stop by his room to say hello (other than family, these are our transplanted friends, and they do look beautiful with their pink cheeks and newfound energy).

| Carman having a heart to heart with his favourite Starbucks barista, Juan (weekends are a safe time to visit, no crowds around) |
