Pamela's Birthday!

15Oct

Well not too much spoiling going on in my life these days (ha, ha)! Dj has booked Pedis for us this morning - Matt ops for a mani but both he and Carman forgo any choice of polish - hmm. Dj and I chat while our feet get pampered but Matt and Carman are very quiet and both have smug little “I’m in la la land” smiles on their faces. The pedi is great for Carman and Mary even does a paraffin treatment on his feet to help get the circulation going - his extremities are poorly oxygenated and always cold, so I’m sure the warm paraffin feels heavenly!

We are off to physio after our special treatment, but drop Dj & Matt back at the condo first. They pack up, clean up (thanks guys!) pick up Teddy and are on their way home - trying to beat the rush hour traffic they would have hit, had they stayed for Physio. We had a wonderful visit, busy but relaxing just the same and are of course, already looking forward to the next visit!

Physio is crazy busy today...people milling about everywhere, all equipment in constant use and lots of commotion! Nonetheless Carman gets thru his whole program in good time, and then the highlight of the session is another visit from our new friend Maria (20 years post double lung transplant) who drops in at The Treadmill room whenever she is in for appointments. We chat for a bit, enjoying her encouraging stories and then head home...where there are scrumptious leftovers waiting for us for supper!

Carman, Maria & Jess
Thanks so much to each and every one of you for making this such a wonderful day! For the great cards, balloon (which earned me a Happy Birthday from a random stranger in the elevator), phone calls (even if I couldn’t talk at the time Joyce and thanks Ty!), e-cards (thanks Elisa & Tony), emails, greetings (thanks to the LuCliff concierge & Ulke in our building) hugs, messages, and texts (12:58 am - yes, Shilpa, you were first of the day) and 4:58 am (yes Paula, you were first of the barely-here-yet daylight) and others during regular business of birthday hours (Jess, Kristy, Susan) and those that came thru Facebook messages!

The Spa treatments were oh so wonderful, (especially because they were shared) as were my other gifts, which I can and will also share (saving a dram or two for you Matt; I have the perfect thing in mind Mary; and thanks Mom & Dad).

When birthday wishes come true, all my breathless friends will have received the generous gift of life!

Until then, please enjoy this song and the truly wonderful CF singers and the volunteers who made it happen in memory of Matt Scales.
