We got a bit of a break in the humidity today and at 3:00 the temp was only 28C so I suggested to Carman that we might be able to do a walk in the hood...since Omar had just delivered this week’s oxygen supply. By 3:45 we were ready to roll and headed out. Our first stop was the bank, then onto to Tim Hortons to grab some iced drinks, across the intersection to Allen Gardens to find a bench and have a rest. Here we met Julie, one of the transport staff for the production of XIII, The Series, currently filming in the area. We shared the bench and exchanged stories (Julie is a transplant from Saskatchewan and we’re here for a transplant from NB).

We enjoyed our visit with Julie, a bit of park people and pigeon watching and then noted that we were down to 2 lights on the oxygen meter so decided it was time to head home. The stroller lasted about 10 minutes once we got home and Carman switched back to the concentrator, so we timed that very well and covered just under 2km!
Brian & Krys are in town this week, he is completing a course and she is here to provide moral support :o) We discovered that they are staying only a few blocks from us and arranged for a visit this evening, as Brian will have exams for the next 2 days. It was great to see them (we haven’t seen Brian since last fall and it’s been a couple of years since we’ve seen Krys. We did it again when they left...moments after we had said our goodbyes, we realized that once again we’d forgotten the guest book & photo! Will we ever get this down to a routine? I even have a note on the doorhandle to remind us and our guests that we want to do this and we all ignored it - arghhhh! Another spot to save in the book...
About 20 minutes after we’d beaten ourselves up enough, Carman decided to have some ice cream and then we received a phone call from NB...it was our good buddy Neil, calling to check in! So great to hear his voice and hear about today’s golf game...Dee posted a 95 for me - even better than the 99 she scored for me on Tuesday! At this rate, my handicap will plummet by fall - yippee!
Not long after they’d hung up the phone rang again (we’re having an in-demand-celebrity kind of night) and Johnny was calling to see if he could be Carman’s physio coach next Tuesday on his way home from the cottage. When Carman relayed that bit of news, I had to think on it for a millisecond and then said sure, tell him I’ll be back in August! ha, ha
Let’s hope the weather gives us a break for a few more days, that will mean more outside time on the balcony and walking in the hood!
