We had a great lunch (thanks Rob) and wonderful afternoon visit with our friend Pam (home from Iqaluit) and her friend Rob today. It was too hot for Carman to venture out on foot, so we decided a nice mix of salads would be perfect. Pam had already brought a beautiful raspberry torte for dessert and a lovely bouquet of flowers, so she and I left the boys to visit and walked down to the MLG Loblaws (a bigger draw than the CN Tower, these days) to puruse the salads and prepared meals section. Some yummy ribs, chicken, along with quinoa, chick pea and pasta salads and we had a feast to lay out and consume (which we did!).
Early evening brought us a visit with Officer Rob - who was in town for the weekend working at the OPP booth on Church St. for the Pride Festivities. Church St. was closed to vehicles and lined with information booths and various trucks or trailers all emitting palette tempting aromas of various types of street food. It was a very festive atmosphere, with patrons sporting thier red, white and rainbow colours in cosutmes ranging from the outrageous to the sublime!
After a long (and I’m sure super hot day) in the sun and full gear (no summer-weight Kevlar available), Rob came over for the evening. Rob was one of my Trainers at Libro, who left to pursue (and achieve) his dream of working in the policing services. He is an active participant on many commitees for the Proud to Serve movement - and should be proud of his accomplishments (I am)!
We were right on top of things when Pam & Rob were leaving...got our photo and had them sign our guest book. Our smarts didn’t last though, and I literally chased Officer Rob to the elevator and asked him to come back and sign the book...then forgot to get our photo!! No question, we suck at this memory thing - ha, ha. The upside is, he’ll have to come back for another visit!
