Well I can soothe your shattered nerves now, since I know you’ve been on tenterhooks wondering just what happened with that package...Carman woke up shortly after I picked up my book, so we headed out to the balcony and he opened our surprise.

Our friend Dianne (also retired to the east, from McCormick) and her husband Guy sent us a beautiful lighthouse nightlight, a bag of salt water taffy (for Carman’s sweet tooth) and a lovely card featuring one of Geof Burbidge’s stunning photos (of what looks to me like the St. Lawrence coastline). Thank you folks! Sweet reminders of home and our friends who are following us!

Carman had a hard time getting his O2 sats up this morning, just getting up, dressed, grabbing a coffee and walking to the couch saw his O2 drop into the low 80’s. We switched him to the Venturi Mask for awhile until it came back up again...we didn’t expect much at physio today, given the heat and high humidty, but he did very well. Completed his card and O2 stayed over 92. It wasn’t very busy during our time slot, most patients had come earlier in the day, to try to get a good start on the holiday weekend I suspect. We sure missed seeing our friend Jess and her beau Brad. Jess has an infection at the moment, so is avoiding the group out of necessity. Brad was leaving on a dinner hour flight, for a visit with the kids at home, so we didn’t get a chance to say it in person...“have a blast Brad!”. We know the kids will be ecstatic to see you and have some 24/7 time with you!  While we await the miracle of transplant, the separation from home, family and friends is one of the most challenging things to handle. It is a bittersweet journey...

Thanks Denise, for sharing the Sun Media, London Free Press, PointofView article this week..."Don't Take Your Organs with you when you die". A very interesting comment on donor awareness and the contrast between our Canadian self image as a kind and caring people, and the fact that we languish at the bottom of the standings among First World countries for organ donation rates.
