Happy Father’s Day

17Jun12
Today we had the pleasure of sharing Father’s Day with Jen’s boyfriend’s family in north Toronto.  After a call to my Dad to wish him the best of days we headed north to meet up with Jen and Max. His parents, Yefim and Nadia are tremendous hosts, we felt instantly at home and part of the family! Max manned the grill (with close supervision by his brother-in-law, Chris), and provided us with an assortment of salmon, chicken, steak and veggies, done to perfection...Nadia’s mom, Baba, made her special crepes, into which we piled smoked salmon and Nadia's cucumber dill salad...a veritable feast!
Anna & Chris’ baby, Rory, entertained us all with her infectious giggle, while the dogs napped close by. I enjoyed a chat with their son, Harrison, about his favourite literature, during which we lamented the fact that his middle school (and that level in general) lacks any scheduled opportunities for creative writing...not even a club outside the cirriculum.
Baba speaks no English, so we weren’t able to visit properly, but my only Russian, “Da svidaniya” did bring a smile to her face as we were leaving...
Spasiba to Max and his family for sharing the day with us!
