That's 2 of 3 wishes granted...now we wait on those lungs.
Physio turned out to be "down home" day...the first couple we met when we arrived in the treadmill room are from the same city in New Brunswick where we retired. He is 2 months post-transplant and doing well...he told Carman he’s going to be amazed from day 1 after the surgery! The next couple we encountered are from about 40 minutes away in NB and she is like Carman, pre-surgery and a friend of my sister’s mother-in-law...small world here in health care!
Carman had a good workout session, trying a new delivery for his oxygen while on the treadmill. He was able to do 20 minutes at level 1.3, get his heart rate up and keep his O2 sats over 90!..and that was at the end of his workout, having already done 20 min on the recumbent bike; some stretching and some work with light weights. This called for a little reward...from the Starbucks in the University Ave foyer - a little mocha frappa something or other, which he thoroughly enjoyed on the cab ride home!
This is - how we roll...
Tonight we’ll cross our fingers and hope for the best for Nik Wallenda as he wire walks across Niagara Falls...

Dj and I finished building a kitchen cart this morning and then made an antipasto lunch before she had to catch her train home. At the appointed time, we left the apartment and headed out on the 10 minute drive to Union Station. Ten minutes by distance that is, but navigation devices don’t take into account the volume of traffic on the downtown streets here in TO...
We got as far as King and Bay streets and the clock was ticking so Dj jumped out to walk the rest of the way (about a 6 minute walk). At 15:22 she sent me a text to let me know she had made it to the station, printed her ticket and was on the train, departing at 15:30. At 15:44 I texted her to let her know I had finally reached Union Station by car!!! Front St. is currently reduced to one zig zag lane each way as they have heavy construction going on in and around the station. We were both glad she had walked!
I continued on to return home and was parked in the garage by 15:56 - having tried a different route I discovered it’s true that taking the route less travelled (by the masses) has its rewards!

Hello Carman and Pamela!
ReplyDeleteI was digging my elbows into Fred the other day, and he gave me the brief update and your blog site. We are very busy 4 days of soccer per week. Very busy life, but having fun. I just wanted to drop a note to say we are all thinking of you.
Cheers,
Shawn Chapin
P.S.
That looks like a very tasty pie!
Hey Shawn - thanks for your note...I'm sure the boys are keeping you hopping from foot to foot! Soccer is a great ploy on your part, entertain AND wear them out at the same time - well done! We hope to get west for a visit at some point, will let you know when we're coming and perhaps you'll have some elbow room for me too! :o)
