Carman's Birthday
Shout out - Happy Birthday Baby!
Sharpshooter, Annie Oakley (1860-1926), and director of scary films, Alfred Hitchcock (1899-1980) were born on this day along with the following famous (living) people: Fidel Castro, Cuban People’s Papa (86), Don Ho, Hawaiian who lives in a tiny bubble (82), Carman Hamilton, all around good guy looking for new lungs (63), Kathleen Battle, soprano (64) and David Feherty, PGA Brat (54).
I don’t know about the other folks, but the following are some of the wonderful wishes that Carman received for his birthday today:
Happy Birthday Carm. Hope you are having a great day. What are you today? 55 and holding or is it 50 and holding. Either way I know Pamela will treat you right.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARMAN
from Mary & Lee
In honour of this auspicious occasion I baked a chocolate cake to bring to Physio today. Since I don’t have the proper baking pans for the usual birthday cake, I made it in two pyrex dishes and had one for home, which we shared with fellow post-trans patient, Heather, and her Mom Jeannie; Parvis & Ulke, our concierge team who take such good care of us (and everyone in the building) and then with the kids after dinner at The Blake tonight (except Dj who is allergic to chocolate - I know! Awful isn’t it? She’s allergic to chocolate and I’m allergic to strawberries o between us, we’re forced to drink champagne on it’s own...darn!).
It was a double celebration at Physio, as we said farewell to our friends Donnie & Brenda who are heading home to Griffith, near Ottawa. Donnie is our inspiration, having waited 13 days for his transplant and being up and attem right afterward. In fact, the first time we met Donnie, we thought he was in Physio as a support person not a 3-week post-transplant patient! We’ll miss them in the Treadmill Room, but are very excited as they head home with his new lungs!
While Danica supervised at Physio, I went downstairs to visit with Heather and her Mom, Jeannie.
Heather is looking much more chipper today (could be the Mom factor) but still somewhat discouraged by the proposed treatment plan. Not that she minds being treated in any way, just that it means she will be kept from her beloved Sean and furry critters for longer than anticipated. It was great to meet Jeannie and I told her that I hoped we meet again soon, but in our own province!
While we were at Physio, Matt and Teddy took a walk to the off-leash park at Allen Gardens where they found a drinking fountain that was just the right height for a thirsty dog!
Along with the special email messages and lots of birthday wishes on his FaceBook page (yes, the second time this year he’s looked at it) - the post mail was great fun today...cards for Carman!
