Closing Ceremonies on the Birthday Week

18Aug
Sunday - Carman’s brother and sister and their families came into the city for lunch today - to bring a close to the week long celebration that has been this year’s birthday! We all trooped over to The Blake, where Heather, our favorite server, waited on us hand and foot! Joyce scooped our bill on the side (yes, it is a family-wide competition!) and we are very grateful for the treat, thanks Joyce!

Jennifer baked some birthday muffins for everyone, so we squeezed into the condo to enjoy them  and a visit after lunch. Laura had to leave early, as she was scheduled to work tonight back in London, so we grabbed a photo of her, Kyle and Carman  at The Bake, then I took some group shots back at our condo.

The clan was not complete, we sure missed Dj, Matt, Rosemary & Rafa who couldn’t be here to celebrate with us. DJ & Matt were here last weekend from Ottawa and Rosemary & Rafa live and teach in Botswana so a weekend in TO is a bit out of the question for them right now!

We were glad to have Iain stop by for a quick visit and to meet the clan before everyone departed, then he and Kyle headed out for the evening.

Once everyone had left Carman settled into his chair to relax a bit. It wasn't long before the iPad came out and he was enjoying something on Netflicks. He really enjoyed The Unit a secret ops type show that Matt & Dj introduced him to. That was a relatively long relationship - 49 episodes! I took this picture without him knowing, then asked what he was watching. He was enjoying the last of the 9 episodes of The Unusuals a quirky cop show I happened upon on Netflicks and tuned him into. He has been watching it all week and like I was, felt disappointed that it only had 9 episodes.

  1. Happy Birthday!! Rafa and I send lots of birthday wishes. :) Looks like everyone had a good time on Carman's birthday. But I might have to take that flight to Canada to steal your iPad Carman!! Not fair, I want one! ;)

We have two more weeks of holidays until heading back to school. Tomorrow we'll take a trip to the Makadikadi Pans in north-eastern Botswana. No cage diving with great whites up there!

    1. Dumela Roe & Rafa - wo wonderful to hear from you! You could get your wish, Carman keeps complaining about what his iPad can't do and saying he's going to trade up to a newer version...come and get it! :o)

Your Mom was telling us about the cage diving - OMG - Carman would have loved that, he dove with sharks in Roatan and loved it (no cages involved).

Rafa, I so enjoy your photos, they are absolutely stunning captures of the African landscape! Looking forward to pics of the salt flats and take lots of water with you! Tenga un viaje maravilloso xoxo Tía Pamela
