Breathless Gang - Game ON!

Wednesday - Tonight is Games Night for the Breathless Gang (thanks for the moniker Dj). If all goes well, i.e. everyone feels up to it, we’ll be a dozen from the transplant program. Everyone has been working hard in the Treadmill Room and an evening of social antics around the table is in order!

We have Uno Spin, Sequence, Dominoes, Bananagrams, a card game for crowds called Fourteens and Cribbage (for those who like a quieter game...but I’m sure nobody like that will be here). I’ve booked the dining room in our building for this event so we’ll have lots of tables and room to spread out (after we snack down midway thru the evening). It’s easily accessed immediately off the elevator for those in wheelchairs, with washrooms right across the hall...Brad preferred the pink one upon arrival!

For snacks we have layered nacho dip, veggies & dip, cream cheese & salsa pinwheels (thanks Susan), Artisan corn chips & salsa (thanks for baking Brad) and a few one-bite chocolate bars and packs of skittles for the sugar hounds (that’s you Shilpa). Add in a few sodas and we’ve got it covered.

We missed Retta & Rob (she wasn’t feeling well the past couple of days, so was in self-exile).  Carman & I, Shilpa, Kristy, Susan & Jim (Kristy’s parents) Ruth & Gary and Jess & Brad make up the field of contestants. After a bit of socializing the games are to begin shortly after 7 and are to conclude around 9ish - ha, ha, good luck - this crowd is like herding cats when it comes to being in control!  We start off with a full-crowd game of Uno Spin and soon the skipping, reversing and gifting your had full of cards to the guy on the left causes a few stink eyes around the table, much laughter and a numerous slightly less-than-sincere apologies...this crowd is nothing if not competitive and soon Jess and Carman are slinging the barbs at one another - all in the best of fun!

The game was to stop when someone reached 125, so we’d have time for a different game too. The final tally was Carman - 128; Susan - 123; Brad - 78; Gary - 56; Ruth - 51; Shilpa - 43; Kristy - 38; Jim - 35; Jess - 7 and Pamela - 0! Making yours truly the big winner and trouncing Bodacious Brad real good, thank you, thank you very much!

We follow this up with our snacks and then a few rounds of Bananagrams (same idea as Scrabble or Words with Friends, but no board to play on).

In the end, we were all winners - had a great time
and agreed,
this is not the last Breathless Gang Games Night!

Matt is here visiting (and attending some meetings in the city) so popped in after he visit to the gym and performed the role of photographer for us!
